New Footage of 2013 Fatal Shooting of Sammy Yatim Released

 

TORONTO, ON – 18-year old Sammy Yatim was shot by Toronto Police Service Constable James Forcillo on July 26, 2013 after Yatim threatened other passengers with a knife aboard a TTC streetcar. Yatim was shot eight times by Forcillo and tasered by another constable shortly after the police’s arrival. Footage from inside the streetcar was released by the Superior Court during Constable Forcillo’s trial for second degree murder and attempted murder.

The first attached clip shows Yatim being shot repeatedly and then tasered as he stood at the front of the streetcar with an 18-inch switchblade, while the second shows Yatim scaring passengers off the streetcar while exposing himself.
