உலகின் அவலட்சணமான நாயைத் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கும் விழாவுக்கு வலுக்கும் எதிர்ப்பு - (படங்கள்)

கலிபோர்னியா: உடற்குறைபாடுகள் கொண்ட நாய்களை தத்தெடுத்து வளர்ப்பதை ஊக்குவிக்கும் வகையில், உலகின் அவலட்சணமான நாயைத் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கும் போட்டி அமெரிக்காவின் கலிபோர்னியா மாநிலத்தில் நடைபெற்றது. இதில் உலகம் முழுவதிலும் இருந்து இறுதிச்சுற்றுக்கு முன்னேறிய 27 நாய்கள் தங்கள் உரிமையாளருடன் கலந்து கொண்டன.

இதில் நீதிபதியாக உள்ளவர்கள் நாய்களை முதலில் பார்க்கும் போது ஏற்படும் உணர்வு, அதன் வழக்கத்திற்கு மாறான நடவடிக்கைகள், இயற்கையான அழகற்ற தன்மை, ரசிகர்களின் உணர்வு ஆகியவற்றை கருத்தில் கொண்டு உலகின் அவலட்சணமான நாயை தேர்ந்தெடுப்பதாக தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

அந்த வகையில், இந்த வருடத்திற்கான உலகின் அவலட்சணமான நாயாக அமெரிக்காவின் ப்ளோரிடா மாநிலத்தைச் சேர்ந்த 10 வயதான ’க்வாசி மோடோ’ என்ற பிட்புல் மற்றும் டச்சு இனக்கலப்பு நாய் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இரண்டாவது வருடமாக நடத்தப்படும் இந்த விழாவிற்கு சமூக ஆர்வலர்கள் மற்றும் நாய்களை வளர்க்கும் பொதுமக்களிடையே கடும் எதிர்ப்பு நிலவி வருவது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

The event is held annually at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, California with the philosophy “That dog is so ugly it’s cute!”.

“We celebrate the spirit and imperfections that make these dogs loveable and adoptable,” explains Sarah Cummings, CEO. New at the annual contest, to be held June 26 this year, will be the consolidation of the prior categories, pedigreed and mutt, with awards now given for the World’s Ugliest Dog® and the addition of the Spirit Award.

Dogs are judged generally on appearance, personality, and audience interaction. The World’s Ugliest Dog® Spirit Award will honour a dog and owner who have overcome obstacles and/or are providing service to the community based on the dog’s biography.

There has been an Ugly Dog contest in the small Bay Area town of Petaluma for over 50 years, with 27 years at the Sonoma-Marin Fair which trademarked the World’s Ugliest Dog® Contest.
