அதாவது, சிறுமியின் கண்களுக்கு மட்டும் சில விலங்குகள் நடமாடுவது போல் தெரிந்ததாகவும், அந்த விலங்குகள் மற்றவர்களுக்கு தெரியாமல் இருந்ததால், சிறுமியின் உடலில் பேய் தாக்கியுள்ளதாக கூறப்பட்டது.
இதனை பெற்றோர்களும் நம்பியுள்ளனர். சிறுமியின் மூத்த சகோதரி ஒருவர் தனது தங்கையின் பிரச்சனை தீர அருகில் உள்ள ஒரு தேவாலய பாதிரியாரின் உதவியை நாடியுள்ளார்.
சிறுமியின் நிலையை அறிந்த பாதிரியார், அவரது உடலில் பேய் புகுந்துள்ளது என்றும், அந்த சிறுமியின் கண்கள் வழியாகவே அந்த பேய் நடப்பவை எல்லாவற்றையும் பார்த்து வருவதாக கூறினார்.
