Police seized a car from a house down Ratna Mawatha in Erawwala, Piliyandala. The vehicle had no document to verify ownership, several days later it was revealed that the number plate of the vehicle was fake.
Deputy Minister of Justice, Attorney-at-Law Sujeewa Senasinghe stated that they received “a small tip-off” that there is a luxury car as they have identified that it is a car that has a high engine capacity.
Opposition Leader of the Uva Province, Harin Fernando questioned whether they would like to find out if the helicopters, Lamborghinis and BMW bicycles were also in Sella Kataragama.
UNP Parliamentarian, Sujeewa Senasinghe stated that they had brought down a Lamborghini and it is parked at home. He went on to note that the tax only is 60 million and if the car is bought, it amounts to 100 million.
Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe stated that they are thinking about the country whereas for ten years when they were in power they only nourished the family. He added that they spent money to buy Lamborghinis, Benz cars and palaces.
Trade Union Activist, Saman Rathnapriya stated that the previous opposition constantly had brought up that all factions under the regime of Mahinda Rajapaksa which used luxury vehicles, and that his children brought down Lamborghinis for their own use.
He added that the current government has failed to expose these matters, and stated that while levelling allegations, it is essential that those charges are proven and the wrongdoers are punished.
